The agro-morphological traits of Buom trang plant (Bauhinia viridescens Desv.) as indigenous vegetable at Ba Vi, Ha Noi

     The agro-morphological trait characterization and evaluation of Buom trang (Bauhinia viridescens Desv.) population as a special vegetable plant were conducted during 2010-2012 at experimentation area of BAVIECO in Van Hoa commune, Ba Vi district of Ha Noi. Total of 59 agro-morphological traits, yield and quality of leaf tips and pest-disease tolerance have evaluated. Study results showed, Buom trang is woody erect plant, leaf-fallingin winter, heathy growth and development in highlands condition, good disease and pest resistant. It’s tip leaves have good nutrition and cook flavor taste. Tip leaves of Buom trang plant can be harvested in 8 months period from15.February to 15.October with average leaf tip yield is 1,55kg / plant (with 3-4 year old plant). Since Buom trang plant is a perennial wild one, further study on the yield in intensive culture and benefit earned should be needed.
