Plant Resources Center welcomes international interns from France

On March 23, 2026, the Plant Resources Center officially welcomed two international interns from Institut Agro Dijon (France): Mr. N’Gome–Raphael Dieng and Mr. Simon Vezia, who will undertake their research internship at the Center.

The welcoming meeting was presided over by Dr. Pham Hung Cuong, Deputy Director of the Center, with the participation of researchers and representatives from relevant departments. During the session, the interns introduced their academic backgrounds and research interests, while the Center provided an overview of its functions, facilities, and key research orientations.

Addressing the interns, Dr. Pham Hung Cuong expressed his appreciation for the ongoing collaboration with L’Institut Agro Dijon, highlighting the significance of international academic exchange in strengthening research capacity and advancing cooperation in the field of plant genetic resources.

During their internship, the students will carry out the following research topics:

– Screening Vietnamese pigmented rice germplasm using ARMS-PCR markers for antioxidant trait improvement (Mr. N’Gome–Raphael Dieng);

– Evaluation of seed conservation techniques and germination testing methods (Mr. Simon Vezia).

The research activities will be conducted in the Center’s molecular biology laboratory and seed genebank, under the direct supervision of scientific staff.

The Center’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to providing full support in terms of facilities, equipment, and research materials to ensure the interns successfully complete their program and gain meaningful practical experience in agricultural science and plant genetic resource conservation. The event was held in a warm and collegial atmosphere, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the academic exchange and international cooperation between the Plant Resources Center and its global training partners.
