Purification of Nep tan nhe rice variety in Song Ma, Son La province of Vietnam
Abstract
Nep tan nhe is a local good-quality rice variety that is widely cultivated in Song Ma district, Son La province. At present, productivity is declining and the variety is contaminated due to long-term cultivation without selection. In this study, the rice variety Nep tan nhe was investigated, collected in Chieng So commune, Song Ma district, Son La province, then was restored by pure line selection on the field in 2017, 2018 and 2019. As a result, Nep tan nhe variety was successfully purified and 600 kg of the purifield seeds was certified as foundation seeds, meeting the national standards TCVN 8548:2018. The variety Nep tan nhe was highly uniform after purification and the yield reached 4.23 tons/ha, an increase of 12.2% compared to the original one (3.77 tons/ha).
